Publisher Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal have announced Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, a single-player third-person action-adventure game.
The game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms on October 26, 2021.
Years after Eidos-Montréal's Guardians of the Galaxy game leaked in 2017, the Deus Ex developer is finally ready to show it off. Publisher Square Enix announced during its E3 2021 presentation on Sunday, Guardians of the Galaxy, a single-player, third-person adventure game in partnership with Marvel that is part of a multigame deal that includes Marvel's Avengers.
The game draws on available information, movies and comics. This isn't a movie adaptation, however, and it's instantly recognizable the first time you see Guardians of the Galaxy leader Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. Not the recognizable Chris Pratt character from the movies; We see him more in his comic book-inspired blonde hair and his iconic red leather jacket adorned with '80s pins and patches.
The Games is trying to pull us back with more and more events, season passes and new things to crush, but Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't want to engulf your life, says senior creative director Jean-François Dugas. “To be honest, we weren't looking at trends,” adds Patrick Fortier, senior game director. “When we started sitting down, we were just looking at what we liked to do,” he said.
