Cards 2048 takes two well-loved puzzle ideas and blends them into something new. From solitaire it borrows neat columns of playing cards, and from the famous 2048 puzzle it borrows the joy of doubling numbers again and again. The result is a clever game of planning where every card you place could start a chain of satisfying merges.
Rounds can be short or surprisingly long depending on how well you organize your columns, so it works both as a quick brain warm-up and as a longer thinking session.
A numbered card waits at the bottom of the screen. Drag it onto any column with room. If it lands on top of a card with the same number, the two join together into one card worth twice as much. That new card might then match the one beneath it, setting off another merge, and another.
Your big target is to build a card showing 2048. Be careful, though: when all columns are packed and the next card has nowhere useful to go, the round is over and your score is final.
The rules take just a moment to learn, but the strategy runs deep. Cascading combos feel great when you set them up on purpose, scores climb quickly as numbers grow, and every round plays out differently. The clean card design keeps the board easy to read, and the game adapts to both wide and tall screens.
Desktop: Click and drag the card into the column you choose. Mobile: Press on the card and move it into place by touch.
Try to keep each column in order, with larger numbers lower down and smaller ones on top. That way a single matching card can trigger a long cascade. Dedicating one column to small values gives you a safe place for low cards without ruining your bigger stacks.
Avoid placing a small card on top of a much larger one unless you have no choice, since it can stay stuck there for a long time. Think about where the next few cards could go before you commit to a move.
Fans of number puzzles, solitaire and logic games will find plenty to enjoy here. It is a fun way for older kids to practise doubling and planning ahead, and adults will enjoy chasing ever-higher scores.
