Minesweeper shipped with Windows for more than twenty years, and Microsoft Minesweeper is the official, refreshed version of that classic. The rules have not changed: a grid hides a number of mines, and you have to uncover every safe square without setting one off. What is new is the cleaner graphics, updated sound and support for touchscreens as well as a mouse.
Click any square to reveal it. A number tells you how many mines touch that square, including diagonals. A blank square means none of its neighbours are mines, and the game opens that whole area for you automatically. Use the numbers to work out where the mines must be, and flag them so you do not click them by accident. Uncover every safe square to win. Start on Easy to learn the patterns, then move up through the larger boards to Expert, where one careless click ends a long game.
